Intermittent Fasting, usually known as IF, is a pattern of eating that alternates between periods of fasting (usually meaning consumption of water only) and non-fasting. There are many versions of Intermittent Fasting, each suited to one’s specific caloric needs and caloric expenditures due to exercise. In later postings I will go into much more detail regarding the actual Intermittent Fasting Protocol itself and how to successfully merge it with Strength Training (weights/resistance), Endurance Training (running/biking/swimming), and Mindfulness Training (Yoga/Martial Arts/Meditation) but first I first would like to share some of the researched health benefits of Intermittent Fasting to whet your appetite.Read More
Let's face it, working out on the road can be a huge drag. You're faced with less than stellar hotel gyms, jet lag, and a total lack of motivation. As a frequent traveler, I can't let these setbacks prevent me from getting in a good sweat sesh, so in this week's installment of the "Healthy traveling Series", I will be sharing some of my favorite workouts from the road.Read More
This week on the Healthy Traveling Series I will be covering my top 10 must haves for a fit, happy and healthy experience on the road. In Part 1 of this series, I am going to focus on my favorite snacks for when I am traveling--or when life is just too hectic to fit in a full meal. I am not much of a snacker when I am at home, however, when I am on the road, I am always ravenous, so I always make sure I am prepared when hunger strikes.Read More

With zucchinis in full bloom and unbelievably cheap right now, I thought I would give you all a delicious, simple and low carb recipe for stuffed zucchini boats. This recipe was inspired by my favorite dish at a local Italian restaurant called Cafe Mezzanotte in Severna Park (and featured in What's Up? Annapolis), and helped me get out of my rut of only making "zoodles" with the summer harvest. The original recipe is not gluten free, so I swapped out the panko breadcrumbs for almond flour because stuffed zucchini is definitely not the same without the crispy topping! Feel free to add more vegetables and/or spices to your liking and enjoy this delicious Italian staple!Read More

Pad Thai has always been my comfort food of choice, but when ordered at a traditional Thai restaurant, my digestive system doesn't always feel the love. By replacing the soy sauce with coconut aminos, peanut butter with almond butter (or really any nut butter), and rice noodles with "zoodles" (zucchini noodles!), the familiar salty-sweet-tangy flavor can easily be replicated!Read More
My week was filled with rehearsals, tough workouts, good food (new recipes coming this week!), figuring out what to do with ALL the raspberries, pretending to be pirates with my nephew on Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake (HIGHLY recommend if you have kids), and a performance on the beautiful Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk!Read More

Meet the Stones:
I am a 28-year old professional musician for the Army, and live in Davidsonville, MD (right outside of DC).
I grew up in Minneapolis, but have lived in Boulder, NYC, and most recently, San Antonio.
I have a passion for food, fitness and living a happy, mindful life with my husband and Wolf hybrid, Shiro.
After being diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease in 2011, I knew I had to make a drastic lifestyle change. By adopting a grain-free diet, dialing back on strenuous exercise, managing my stress, and improving my sleep, I have been able to manage my symptoms and be completely off medication.
I enjoy lifting heavy weights, sprinting up hills, yoga, hiking, wine tasting, trying new fitness classes and cooking.
Grounded in a deep and unyielding passion for meditation, martial arts, and fitness, I undeniably think more than I should, but am only one deep breath away from being grounded.
I lived on the side of a mountain for a year in solidarity retreat and was chased away due to one of California's infamous wildfires.
I also used to LOVE dumpster diving but my wife does not approve, so...
Back when I regularity taught yoga I was super flexible. I'm now lucky if I can touch my elbows together.
We met in 2011 in lovely Boulder, Colorado and eloped two years later before Becca went off to Basic training for the United States Army.
Although we strive to be avid homesteaders, our first fully organic vegetable garden was a bit of a "learning experience" where only the red hot chili peppers survived the bugs!
We are super excited to share our stories, learning, and fun times with you. Please feel free to chime in and share your questions, feedback, and ideas.

My favorite pastimes include:
Sleeping on the floor/vent/couch/chair/grass/sun; going on sprints, runs, walks, hikes, etc; singing with mommy's horn; waiting for anyone to drop food; playing with other doggies; chasing: cats, squirrels, chipmunks, small dogs, small children, small cars, birds...; pooping where I am not supposed to; not taking baths!
