Weekly Highlights

Good afternoon, everybody! We hope you enjoyed our first couple posts, learned a little bit about us, and have added the Buffalo Chicken Casserole to your dinner rotation for this week!

My week was filled with rehearsals, tough workoutsgood food (new recipes coming this week!), figuring out what to do with ALL the raspberries, pretending to be pirates with my nephew on Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake (HIGHLY recommend if you have kids), and a performance on the beautiful Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk!

Jamison has been hard at work promoting his Sci-fi/Fantasy novel "Rune of the Apprentice"  in which ALL of the pre-order sales will be going to charities benefiting military families! Learn more about it on his personal blog

Things Worth Reading

Every Sunday, I am going to share five articles, blog posts, videos, etc. that sparked my interest, and would love for you all to share some of your own favorites from this week in the comment section below!

15 Ways to be Kind to your Adrenals - As somebody who occasionally suffers from adrenal fatigue, I found this post to be very helpful and well researched.

A Navy Seal's 4 Tips to Boost Mental Toughness- Former Navy Seal Commander and CEO of SEALFIT, Mark Divine, believes that BEFORE you conquer physical strength, you need to achieve mental toughness. His 3 best-selling books are all on my reading list for this fall: Way of the SEAL, Unbeatable Mind, and 8 Weeks to SEALFIT.

Four Weeks of Sprint Interval Training Improves 5-km Run Performances- Sprinting FTW! Even PubMed says so..

12 Essential Natural Sunscreens- Even though summer is winding down, it doesn't mean you can skimp on the sunscreen. Many conventional sunscreens have so many chemicals in them they are likely damaging your skin worse than UV rays. Opt for a mineral based sun protectant- I am a fan of Badger and Babyganics sunscreens.

Meet Charles Eugster, Britain's Fastest Nonagenarian- At 96, Eugster proves that you are never too old to feel good!  "retirement is a financial disaster and health catastrophe. We must get rid of retirement, we must re-educate older people so they can get new jobs and rebuild their bodies so they can start new lives. And it is possible!"

*We will go into detail in future posts on what exercises we do and why we work isolated muscle groups

**I do not usually include steady state cardio into my routine (we will discuss why in a later post), however, I have an Army Physical Fitness Test coming up, which involves a timed 2-mile run.
